EVENT: Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity will be holding a Bug Bounty at the Hack Night 2018

On 30 June 2018, Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity is once again organising a Bug Bounty at the Hack Night 2018 edition in the City of Science and Industry in Paris.

Initiated in 2003 by the HackerzVoice team, and inspired by the famous DEF CON of Las Vegas, ” The Hack Night ” is one of the oldest French underground hacking conference. Around conferences, workshops and challenges, the Hack Night aims to gather IT security professionals and hackers of all levels of qualification. This event allows them to discover the latest technical advances and to evaluate their skills in the field.

Importance of Bug Bounty in application security

Last year, Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity saw 2,500 experts test its Web application firewalls and Web Services firewalls to reach the four vulnerable websites and APIs at the 15th edition of the Hack Night. During the Bug Bounty, DenyAll WAFs received approximately 600,000 requests in a matter of hours, combining vulnerability scanners, advanced fuzzing techniques and manual tricks to thwart the security provided by DenyAll products. The data collected was analyzed to further optimize the relevance and effectiveness of Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity’s application security engines.

This exercise was intended to demonstrate Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity’s ability to protect Web Services and APIs. Whether we see them or not, APIs are an important part of today’s business. Application program interfaces are used every day by IT teams and DevOps for B2B transactions, automating applications and all kinds of processes based on SOAP & REST traffic. Companies are relying more than ever on APIs, and this is creating new attack vectors for hackers. Therefore Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity decides to renew the exercise in order to perfect the security of its new security engines.

Challenge the Bug Bounty organized by Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity

The Hack Night is a major event that brings together the elite hackers. This is the reason why we have planned a challenge worthy of the event:

  • Bug Bounty: try to identify vulnerabilities in a web application protected by the new version R&S®Web Application Firewall 6.5 LTS (Long Term Support).
  • Scrapathon (new): can you get through our bot mitigation / anti-scraping solution?

Looking forward to seeing you at the Hack Night and especially enjoy this event.

PS : surprises will be available on our booth for the fastest!
